Message from Commander

The Lambda Theta Chapter of Sigma Nu, at Birmingham-Southern College, is a relatively young chapter with a remarkably deep and rich history. Founded at Birmingham-Southern in 1987, our chapter quickly earned the most prestigious national award for a collegiate chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, the rock chapter award. Shortly thereafter, our chapter was honored with this award three more times. We constantly strive to continue in that legacy of excellence by being faithfully and passionately dedicated to academic study, involvement in our on-campus community, and service to our off-campus community.

Our current chapter has 30 active brothers who stem from a variety of cultural and geographic backgrounds – from the beaches of Southern California, to the small towns of New England, to the Gulf Coastal Plains of Alabama and Florida. Each member brings with him unique insight into what it means to truly live as a brother of Sigma Nu, and as a chapter, we strive to foster such individuality in an effort to actively grow on our collegiate journey as men of Honor.

Our brothers are involved in a wide array of on-campus organizations, and contribute heavily to the growth and development of our campus community. Additionally, our brothers pursue their academic interests in almost every discipline on campus, and are proud and active members of a variety of academic and leadership honors societies – including six Phi Beta Kappa members in the last three years. We strive to not only be involved in our campus our campus organizations and societies, but also to lead our campus community. Many of our brothers serve as executive officers of campus organizations, and are actively pursuing academic distinctions in Leadership Studies.

The Lambda Theta Chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity is a proud member of the Birmingham-Southern College Interfraternity Council (IFC), and is located on the campus at Birmingham-Southern. We welcome you to contact us with any questions regarding our chapter, and to stop by for a visit.

Sincerely,

Jake Martin
Eminent Commander
